Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about CoinHub.

What is this platform?+
It is an online marketplace for coin, banknote and medal auctions. Catalogues from auction houses around the world are gathered in one place, so you can search, follow and bid without visiting each house separately.
How do I find a specific item?+
Use the search bar and the catalogue filters: category, country, period, price and auction. You can save lots you like to your favorites and come back to them later.
How can I contact support?+
Write to us through the Contact Us page. For questions about a particular lot, invoice or shipment, contact the auction house that runs the sale — its details are on the auction page.
What is a maximum bid?+
It is the highest amount you are willing to pay. The system bids on your behalf in the smallest possible steps and only goes up when someone bids against you, never above your limit.
What costs are added to the hammer price?+
Usually a buyer's premium, applicable taxes and shipping. The rates are set by the auction house and are listed in the terms of each auction, so check them before you bid.
What can I sell here?+
Coins, banknotes, medals, tokens, and numismatic literature and supplies. Every item must be genuine and legally yours to sell; replicas have to be clearly marked as such.
What does it cost to sell?+
Listing a lot is free. A seller commission is charged only when the lot sells, and you see the exact rate before you confirm the listing.
When do I get paid?+
After the buyer pays and the lot is handed over for delivery, your proceeds minus the commission are transferred using the payout method in your profile.
How much does shipping cost?+
It depends on the destination, weight, declared value and insurance. The auction house adds the shipping cost to your invoice or confirms it with you before dispatch.
How can I track my order?+
Once the parcel is dispatched, the auction house sends you the carrier and the tracking number. If you have not received them, contact the house directly.
Are the lots guaranteed to be genuine?+
Each auction house is responsible for its descriptions and guarantees authenticity under its own terms of sale. Read these terms on the auction page before bidding.
What is a certified coin?+
It is a coin examined by an independent grading service, such as NGC or PCGS, and sealed in a holder with its grade and a certificate number. You can verify the number on the service's website.
What if I doubt the authenticity after purchase?+
Contact the auction house within the period stated in its terms of sale. The house may ask for an independent expert opinion; if the item is confirmed not to be genuine, the sale is cancelled and the payment refunded.
Why do auction houses ask for verification?+
Houses need to know who is bidding. Before approving you for a sale, a house may ask for an identity document or references from other auction houses, especially for high-value lots.
How do I update my details?+
Open your profile to change your address, phone number, language, display currency and notification settings.
Do I need an account to browse?+
No. Catalogues, lots and results are open to everyone. You need an account to bid, save lots to your favorites and receive notifications.
How do live auctions work?+
A live auction runs at a scheduled time and lots are offered one after another. You bid in real time from your browser, or leave a maximum bid in advance and the system bids for you.
How do I place a bid?+
Open the lot, enter an amount equal to or above the next minimum bid and confirm. Some auctions ask you to register for the sale first; you will see a prompt on the lot page.
Can I cancel a bid?+
A bid is a binding offer to buy. If you made a mistake, contact the auction house as soon as possible and before the lot closes — only the house can decide to withdraw a bid.
How do I pay for the lots I won?+
After the auction you receive an invoice from the auction house with the total and the available payment methods. Your invoices are also kept in your profile.
How do I start selling?+
Create an account, complete verification, and add your first lot with clear photos and an accurate description. Once it passes review, it appears in the catalogue and buyers can bid.
Can I set a minimum price?+
Yes. You choose the starting price, and you can add a reserve — the lowest amount you are willing to accept. If bidding does not reach the reserve, the lot stays with you.
Who ships my purchase?+
The auction house that sold the lot. It packs and dispatches your order once the invoice has been paid in full.
Do auction houses ship internationally?+
Most of them do. Some items need an export licence or cannot be sent to certain countries, which may add time to delivery. The terms of each auction describe the restrictions.
What if my order arrives damaged or does not arrive?+
Contact the auction house right away and attach photos of the parcel and the item. Insured shipments are covered according to the terms of the sale.
What do the grades mean?+
A grade describes the state of preservation, from heavily worn to uncirculated. Houses use either traditional verbal grades or the 70-point Sheldon scale; the lot description states which one applies.
Can I ask for more photos or details?+
Yes. Send your question to the auction house from the lot page. It is best to ask well before the lot closes, so the house has time to answer.
How do I create an account?+
Click Join, enter your email, password and contact details, and confirm your email address using the link we send you.
I forgot my password. What should I do?+
Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. We will email you a link to set a new password.
How do I delete my account?+
Send a request through the Contact Us page. Outstanding invoices have to be settled before the account can be closed.
